51m Classic Sloop S/Y Rainbow II is well underway!
The 51 metre sloop pays homage to the era of the big classic yachts of the early 1900s, offering a back-to-the-roots classical sailing experience packed with contemperary comfort features.
Rainbow II began her life in the Netherlands prior to the hull being purchased by Turquoise Yachts. Since becoming a Turquoise project, the 51m schooner platform has been re-designed by Dykstra Naval Architects as a sloop, with an interior designed by deVosdeVries design, and is currently under construction at our Istanbul shipyard.
Her long overhangs and elegant sheer line give her a distinct classic appearance, while the high bulwarks provide a smooth and pleasurable experience while under way. The main deckhouse salon will provide guests with sweeping views all around, while the adjacent main cockpit offers a cozy place to enjoy the sailing and ample space for al-fresco dining. The modern sloop rig results in efficient sailing performance, using modern technology to ensure easy and safe handling of the sails. A side-boarding platform allows easy access to the sea as well as tender boarding.
With a layout optimized for blue water cruising, the sumptuous semi-classic interior offers ample space for large families. The interior styling is lightly reminiscent of the historic big class racing yachts, with a general finish of lacquered mahogany and delicate panel detailing on the main walls and cabinetry. Finer detailing is enriched with ebony inlays & burl veneer tops.
The main deckhouse salon has windows all-around, providing light to the interior and excellent views. With a dining table seating 12, lounge area, a pantry and direct connection to the large exterior cockpit, the salon will be the focal point of the boat.
Down below, the full width owner's stateroom is situated aft. The large double bed lies directly below a skylight, adding to the spacious atmosphere.
Further forward along the large central corridor there are 4 cabins: a VIP, two twins and a double, each with its own dedicated bathroom. The lower salon on portside serves as an entertainment area and incorporates dayhead functionality. The sofa can be converted in order to sleep an additional two persons, which brings the total number of guests to twelve. The crew area is located forward of the mast and houses the galley, crew mess and 4 cabins, sleeping 9 crew. A dedicated crew entrance provides access to the foredeck. The aft deckhouse will be predominantly for crew use and houses the navigation area. While at anchor an access to the stateroom below can be opened, so this space and the cockpit behind can double as an extended owner's area.
